Remove Urine Smell from Anything
Let’s face it. If you’re an outdoor person and you have pets, you know the foul odor they leave behind. This is especially true in a camper when they’re in and out of hiking, ponds, and who knows what else. They come in and the smell seems to stick to everything.
No worries.
I’ve used this on carpet, couches, dog beds, and comforters. This mixture is originally for urine, but it works on other yucky smells. The benefit of this is you can put it on anything as vinegar doesn’t break down fibers or discolor fabric. It can also be used for things that can’t be thrown in the wash.
So how do you do it?
- Mix a spray bottle with half vinegar half water (or one to one for whatever mixer you’re using)
- Using the spray bottle, fully saturate the area to be cleaned. When you put your hand on it it should feel wet, not just damp. Let it sit at least 10 minutes so it can penetrate to the bottom of the fibers.
- Use a towel and blot up the excess wetness so it’ll dry faster. This step isn’t necessary if you have all day to let it dry.
- Let the carpet sit until it’s almost totally dry. This will take several hours.
- Sprinkle literally with baking soda. This will absorb the smell.
- Let it sit at least 15 minutes. When the carpet or item is fully dry, vacuum up.
Easy and cheap. My favorite.
