Get rid of stubborn belly fat, fight inflammation, beat nausea….sound good? Make this ginger water STAT
Let’s cut right to the chase. Ginger is a powerful substance. However, it’s a strong flavor and a lot of people don’t know how to incorporate it into the diet. The answer – ginger water!
I’m a strong believer that water should never be boring. Add electrolytes, vitamins, fruits, and many others to get additional nutrients while you’re rehydrating. Ginger water is my go to favorite and so easy to make!
BENEFITS OF GINGER
- Nausea – It helps control nausea and stomach problems of any form. It’s also a great use for pregnant women who can’t take medicine to control morning sickness (of course, always discuss with your doctor first). It’s also been know to help cure seasickness, chemotherapy sickness, after surgery sickness, and has been shown to drastically reduce menstrual pain.
- Muscle Soreness – This can include a workout at the gym or the day to day strains of using your muscles in general.
- Anti-inflammatory – Besides general inflammatory issues, it’s been known to greatly reduce the problems of osteoarthritis.
- Blood Sugar and Heart Disease – Studies have proven it has drastically reduced blood sugar problems and heart disease. It’s even improved factors in people with type 2 diabetes.
- Infections – Ginger not only lowers the risk of infections, but it inhibits the growth of many good bacterias. It’s been linked to fighting gingivitis, periodontitis, and respiratory infections.
- Weight Loss – Ginger helps suppress your appetite, so you won’t feel hungry as often. It also helps lower cholesterol, which has a direct connection to obesity. Most important, ginger is a natural cleanser for your colon. It removes blockages and helps waste and toxins move through easier. This helps to shed weight and give you more energy. It also aides in getting rid of that really stubborn lower belly fat. Double whammy!
Convinced yet? Here’s how incredibly easy it is to add into your diet.
If you’ve never bought ginger before, below is a picture of ginger root. It can be found in almost any grocery store. It’s usually around $4 a pound, but this entire hunk I bought here was only $2.50. It doesn’t weigh much.
Now you need to chop it into rough chunks. No need to peel it because you aren’t going to be eating the actual ginger. Below is what a rough chunk looks like.
Now, the recipe is 1:4. One cup ginger to four cups water. The above picture is 2 cups, which I like because the completed recipe perfectly fills a pitcher. So obviously if I used 2 cups ginger I also used 8 cups water.
Time to cook it! Just pour it in the Instant Pot, seal, and set on Manual – High Pressure for 45 minutes. It’ll take about 20 minutes to come to pressure because of all the liquid. The awesome part about this recipe is you can either quick release immediately or let it sit. It won’t ever overcook or go bad.
Remove the lid and let it cool down, then transfer it into a container. I keep it in a pitcher in the fridge so it’s easy to pour. I included a picture below of how much water to add to your glass. Just top it off with 1-2 shots of ginger water, but you can add the amount you like for your taste buds.
